Nine months ago, this satellite didn't exist right now. It's flying over your head. Okay, so it's called terra nova. The first spacecraft from nord space out of markham ontario.

I've actually lived many years in strong, which is close to there. It was built and tested in about nine months in october 1st.

It wrote a spacex falcon 9 out of california with roughly 130 other satellites. Now, last week, nord space confirmed every early mission goal met, which is pretty incredible.

So what exactly is inside it? A cube sat about the size of a loaf of bread, with an nvidia processor running ai on board.

Now, normally, a satellite snaps the picture, beams it down, and someone on the ground figures out what it saw. Terra nova does the actual thinking portion of it in orbit.

So, for example, spotting a wildfire the minute it starts, like a ship that switched off its tracker. Or watching the arctic, it also has an electric thruster so it can move.

But here's the bigger story. Canada has never launched a rocket to orbit our satellites hitch rides essentially almost always on space.

X nord space is building its own rockets and a launch site in newfoundland aiming for 2028. Terranova proves they can build the payload.

The rocket is really just the next test. I mean, it's pretty incredible when you think about it in nine months, it was with one company and it works.

It's a big win for canada. Share this with someone who loves space tech.
